Scientist – Level 1 - Markham location

Reporting to the Director, Analytical Development & Quality Control, the successful candidate will work as part of the Product Development team providing bioanalytical method development expertise to support non-clinical and clinical studies. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of analytical and bioanalytical methods for the analysis of proprietary compounds and metabolites.

Essential Duties:

• Develop efficient analytical methods for the quantitative and qualitative determination of drugs and drug metabolites in biological fluids and tissue using LC/MS/MS.
• Abbreviated validation of analytical methods based on FDA guidelines.
• Perform literature searches and generate reports/SOPs.
• Perform data interpretations and troubleshooting.
• Prepare and present project data and supporting information.
• Contribute to and review technical reports.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Masters degree (with 2 to 5 yrs experience) or Doctorate degree (with 0 to 2 years experience) in a chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline.
• Proven strong expertise in method development for the quantitative analysis of drugs and drug metabolites in biological matrices using LC/MS/MS.
• Experience in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics.
• Experience with HPLC, mass spectrometry and biological sample extraction technology.
• Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Hands-on experience in maintaining and trouble shooting LC-MS/MS and bioanalytical methods.
• A commitment to excellence and teamwork.
• Attentive to details, good observation skills.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
