Research Associate - (Markham and Toronto location)
Job Purpose:
- The position will primarily be based out of our laboratory facility located at the MaRS building in downtown Toronto (approximately 80%) as well as our office located in Markham (approximately 20%).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development and implementation of analytical methods within the Product Development team. To provide analytical support to other departments as required.
- Develop analytical methods for the quantitative and qualitative determination of API in drug substance and drug products.
- Determine API and excipients content in various oral and intravenous formulations by HPLC and UPLC.
- Develop analytical methods to assess concentration, potency, stability, degradation products, drug release and other physio-chemical properties.
- Design and perform drug substance and drug product stability studies.
- Validate analytical methods based on regulatory guidelines.
- Review current job-related scientific literature and new technologies.
- Perform method-related problem solving and investigate OOS or out of trend results.
- Interpret data and present findings to the Product Development team.
- Contribute to the generation and review of technical reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (with 2 to 5 yrs experience) or Master’s degree (with 0 to 2 years experience) in chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline.
- Experienced in quantitative analysis of drug substances and drug products using HPLC and UPLC.
- Laboratory experience with HPLC, UPLC and Dissolution apparatus.
- Hands-on experience in maintaining and problem solving HPLC and analytical methods.
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and GMP/GLPs
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to excellence and teamwork.
- Attention to details, including good observational skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
